Sharing My Artistic Journey on Gina Blitstein's Podcast Seeing From the Inside Out
When Gina Blitstein invited me to speak with her on her podcast Seeing From the Inside Out , I knew it would be a meaningful conversation. We explored the evolution of my painting practice, the influences that have shaped my work, and how my technique has developed over the years. We also touched on some exciting upcoming changes to the selection of paintings available on my website - look for those coming very soon. Another awesome thing that I'm now offering is a Patron opp

Website Refresh & Reminders
Elves are working really hard behind the scenes to revamp my website; however, they get regular breaks and have their own dental plan because of Hermie! If you don’t get the reference, my…my…my… ;) Soon, every painting on my website will be two years old or newer. I’ve also created new mini-masterpieces, and more magnets will be ready to go soon. AND, you will have new opportunities to help others with charitable giving opportunities! AND AND, please remember I can help with

We Have Been Here Before!
Censorship in Art There is a paraphrase of a saying that history may not exactly repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes. The United States is rhyming with the past now, and, if we don’t stay vigilant, history WILL repeat itself. This blog is an updated version of one I wrote in May 2023 . Three other sources that I want to acknowledge for this blog are two books supported by the Monuments Men & Women Foundation . The first book is The Art Front: the Defense of French Collect

My Faraway One: Selected Letters of Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz
My Faraway One: Selected Letters of Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz It’s a book review! And in what will probably be a big surprise (NOT!) to anyone who’s regularly on my website, I absolutely love this book and could not recommend it more. Let’s get to some details. Even if you have no knowledge of the art world, the name ‘Georgia O’Keeffe’ has been dominant in American and world culture for many years, and this book is a collection of letters between her and Alfred St

Bucket List Item #2 - FINALLY Frida … From 2 Different Countries!
Yes, this blog has been a little over 6 months in coming, but I have a reason. By the time this piece is published, I will have seen the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Art Institute in Chicago …happy place on steroids! So, I decided to combine the 2 experiences. This blog might be a little more lengthy, but it will be filled with details, memories, and cool pictures, so thank you in advance for reading. Again, some context is necessary. Ben (my spouse) bought for me for Christmas

Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Ghost Ranch, and Georgia O’Keeffe’s House & Studio
A little context is necessary before getting to the crux of my blog. I enjoyed and appreciated Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings for years since I began painting. I get a little smile on my face when I hear people talk about her flower paintings looking like “lady parts” knowing that a part of her WOULD NOT appreciate that inference (she expressed as much in her lifetime), but another part of her knew that the talk would generate publicity and curiosity about her other paintings.

Blog teaser About Future Blogs
First of all, thanks so much for your wonderful responses to my Springs Long Island blog! I absolutely intend to go back this fall. Frida merch! Yes, I will eventually blog about my bucket list adventure in Mexico City, but there is a Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Art Institute in Chicago that I plan to attend, and I can’t decide whether to do a massive Frida Kahlo blog or two separate ones. It seems like I change my mind every other day. :D Please click the contact link if you’

Krista’s Paintings are in LOTS of Places!
’Tis the season - or soon to be! I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you to support small local business during this and every gift-giving season. The online conglomerates don’t need to be more rich, and big chains will be fine. AND, I’d be even more remiss if I didn’t ask you to support me and my art this time of year and all year! AND AND, you are spoiled for choice as far as venues to check out and purchase my art. Of course, there are plenty of pieces with many price options

Exciting Arty Times for Krista
I’ll be experiencing some bucket list/if-I’m-dreaming-don’t-wake-me-up times over the next month, so I wanted to briefly plug them and to let you know that A LOT of pictures and/or videos of these experiences will be here on my website! At the time of this typing, in 3 days, I will be checking off a bucket list item by spending time at the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center . Georgia O’Keeffe’s “My New Yorks”
Georgia O’Keeffe’s “My New Yorks” If you think Georgia O’Keeffee only painted flowers & southwest motifs, you have until September 22, 2024 to educate yourself otherwise by visiting this great exhibit. Bittersweetly, this exhibit was the one that my friend, Kevin, and I were planning to see; please see my tribute to him in a recent blog . It took me around 90 minutes to see the exhibit. If Kevin had been with me, we might not have left the room because he would’ve been gobsma
