Artistic Relationships: My Take Coming Soon to My Patron Blog

My next few patron articles are going to focus on the relationships between artists I particularly admire and who are discussed in Sebastian Smee’s great book The Art of Rivalry: Four Friendships, Betrayals, and Breakthroughs in Modern Art.

I’m not going to talk about all four, but I will be discussing the relationships and offering my own thoughts on the relationships between Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso (March Patron blog), Jackson Pollock and Willem deKooning (April Patron blog), and Lucian Freud (yes, grandson of that OTHER famous Freud) and Francis Bacon (May Patron blog). So, if you decide to become a Patron, this space can be used as a mini reading group, too, as I’d love to hear your opinions and thoughts (whether you decide to read the book or not)!
